_________________________________________________________

How do I install an S1 layout?
There is a tutorial I've made here.

How do I install an S2 layout?
There's a tutorial for that here. ;)

Will you make me a custom style?
Nope. Not even if you pay me. Maybe I'll offer this service at a later time, but I don't have the patience right now.

Will you help me customize some of your code for my friends page?
Nope. I will eventually create matching layouts for friends pages (S2 automatically matches), but until it's up, you're on your own.

What do I do with an S2 CSS file?
You must copy it, paste it in a text editor, and save it as ____.css (put whatever you like in the blank). Then you must upload it to your own website. So, let's say you have a website at ___.tripod.com. You'd go to the file manager, go to the upload page (if you can't find it, there's usually a help page), browse and find the CSS file, and click "upload". If you didn't stick it in a folder (which you probably didn't if you don't know how to upload), the URL would be ___.tripod.com/____.css. Then you'd go to the customize page > edit customizations > custom CSS, and then stick the URL in the textarea (be sure to include http:// in front!) underneath "Override default" (you have to check the box next to it to get the textarea to show up).

Can I edit a layout?
Go right ahead! But even if you edit it, you still must credit me.

Why can't I see the layouts?
All the layouts are friends only, so if you aren't seeing them, you're either not a member or not logged in.

Where are your old layouts from lj.paintedeyes.org?
I'm workin' on it! They will all be posted soon. You can check for them under the S1 tag.

How do I edit text ("about me" text, etc.) on a S1 layout?
Let's say you want to edit the middle top box on the "top trio" layout. When you go to the edit style page (you can also do this within the textareas on the layout page on [info]paintedlayouts), you can search for "personal text" (on IE, it's "Edit" on the top toolbar, and then "Find"). This will take you to the area. But if you don't know HTML, only edit the text between <!--begin personal text--> and <!--end personal text-->.

Where do I edit the colors for an layout?
For S1, you can edit them on the modify page (the layout page will have a list of what colors on the layout correspond with the names on the modify page). For S2, you edit them at customize > edit customizations > colors (it's a tab on the top of the page). Click the box next to "Override default" to change the color.

Do I have to credit you?
Unless I say on the layout page that you don't have to, yes.

Can I use one of your styles on greatestjournal / my website / another journal site?
As long as you link back to this LJ community (you can link to the mirror GJ community on GJ), sure.

Can I put the credit on my user info?
I'd prefer it to be on the layout, but as long as you say the layout is by me (don't just link me), that's fine.

Can I put the credit in an entry (and nowhere else)?
If you journal is friends only, and you post it on a public entry (like one that says "comment to be added"), I'll deal with it. If you credit me on an entry that remains on the top of your journal, okay. Otherwise, no. Keep the link on the actual layout or your userinfo.

How long does it take you to make each layout?
An S1 layout can take me forever - days, weeks even. S2 layouts maybe take a couple hours.

Can you teach me how to make overrides / layouts?
No. There are all sorts of communities that will, though. Look through these links.
